Specifications for Art-In Construction "Artisan Plaster"
Medium Using Exclusive AIC Formulation and
Application Techniques for Interior Walls and Ceilings

1.01 Reference Standards 

a)   1) ANSI/ASTM c36 - Gypsum Wallboard
     2) ANSI/ASTM c587 - Gypsum Veneer Plaster
     3) ANSI/ASTM c588 - Gypsum Base for Veneer Plasters
     4) ANSI/ASTM c843 - Application of Gypsum Veneer Plaster
     5) ANSI/ASTM c844 - Application of Gypsum Base to receive Gypsum
                         Veneer Plaster

b)   Allowable Tolerances: Install gypsum base to achieve less than 1/16th
inch offset between planes of gypsum face and less than 1/8th inch in 8 feet
for plumb, level, warp and bow.

1.02 Samples and Submittal

AIC will:

     a) Submit Product Specifications and Installation Instructions for each
component of "Artisan Plaster" Medium.

     b) Prepare and submit two color samples to architect for approval. One
sample is to be signed and returned to AIC for quality control of color for the
Project. The second sample will remain with the architect for reference and
quality assurance. Art-In Construction guarantees to match sample in color
and texture.

     c) Use exclusive AIC Formulation and Application Techniques to ensure
maximum durability and hardness of the wall to be crack, scratch, and
puncture resistent. Art-In Construction guarantees the hardness of finish to
resist cracking, scratching and denting.

     d) WARRANTY: Due to its expertise in the industry, special formulas it
has developed, and quality of its workmanship, Art-In Construction is able to
warrant all materials and installation against defects in workmanship for a
period of 20 years.

1.03 Environmental Conditions

a) To ensure delivery of a Quality Product throughout the job, AIC will
perform work only when the following conditions are met:

          1) Temperature: Maintain a uniform temperature of 55 degrees F.
in the area of work for a minimum of (1) week before plaster application,
during plastering, and a minimum of (1) week after plaster is dry.

          2) Lighting: For proper quality control of color, finish lighting or
lighting of equal quality must be in place in all areas to receive "Artisan
Plaster" Medium.


Part 2 - Products

2.01 Gypsum Board Materials

a) Face Layer (Gypsum Core Veneer Panel as base for "Artisan Plaster"
Medium); ASTM c588, Imperial Gypsum Base, by U.S. Gypsum Co. or approved
equal.
          1) Edge Profile: Manufacturers standard

          2) Thickness: minimum of 5/8 inch

          3) Sheet size: Maximum length available to minimize end joints

     b) Joints and Beads Comply with Art-In Construction Quality Standards
and Requirements.

          1) Paper Tape - USG or equivalent, perforated or unperforated

          2) Setting bed material: Durobond 90 by U.S. Gypsum or approved
equal

          3) Accessories (cornerbead, edge trim, etc.): Shall be made
determined in consultation with Architects choice of suitable thickness and
design for the intended use. Flanges shall be free of dirt or grease, or other
materials that may affect the bond or the color of "Artisan Plaster" Medium
and shall be installed in a manner to ensure full coverage of the flanges.

2.02 Two Coat "Artisan Plaster" Materials

a) Basecoat Plaster: Shall be Art-In Construction's Special Formula
"A.I.C. Arriccio IA-107".

     b) Finish coat: Shall be Art-In Construction's Special Formula "A.I.C.
Intonaco II-16".

2.03 Crew Expertise and Qualifications

a) Master Plasterer/Artisans (each with minimum experience of 10+ years)
will be used to ensure that Quality throughout the job is delivered on a
consistent basis. AIC Master Plasterer/Artisans will be assisted by
Plasterer/Artisans (each with a minimum of 6 years experience).

     b) The originator of "Artisan Plaster", Stephen Balser will actively
participate on the Project and be responsible for the successful completion of
the Commission.

2.04 Scheduling

a) Art-In Construction has a history of on-time performance.
