Dobbs Ferry NY Activities
and Organizations The Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated corps
of men and women who servie the village. They are organized into three
companies: Resolute Hook & Ladder, Livingston Hose Co., and Ogden
Engine Co. The Dobbs Ferry Fire Department is a statutory body of the village.
The department handles, along with its primary emergency duties, the
enforcing of the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code. The
members elect their own officers subjedct to the approval of the Board
of Trustees. The village supplies them with major equipment and provides
buildings and facilities -- the volunteer do the rest. The Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps, like the Fire
Department, is composed of unpaid citizens who have answered the call to
civic duty. Unlike the Fire Department, they've chosen to be independent
of the village. They raise all funds needed for equipment and supplies.
The village does supply them with a headquarters. The Youth Services Council is involved with improving the
quality of life for the youth of Dobbs Ferry. It coordinates various
community resources, serves as a conduit for ideas from young people and
adults, and responds to the concerns of the village with regard to
behavior of young people. It seeks to provide an avenue of communication
