Parks and Recreation
An extremely varied program is offered by our Parks and Recreation Department:
"something for everyone," as they say. Tennis, swimming, football, soccer,
basketball, softball, ice skating, arts and crafts, dancing and acting workshops, special
holiday events, etc. The parks and recreation department operates a summer day camp, a
youth center, and a senior canteen, and it assists the Chamber of Commerce and other
organizations with still more programs and projects.
The Department is also responsible for the maintenance of our many parks:
Zinsser Park
A 7 acre open area, softball field, community gardens and picnic area with playground
equipment.
Uniontown Park
A 4.5 acre open area with playground equipment and picnic area.
Draper Park
A 9.9 acre scenic park used for picnicking and passive recreation.
Vestpocket Park
A passive park containing benches and tables.
MacEachron Waterfront Park
A 1.3 acre scenic park with playground equipment and picnic facilities.
Fulton Park
A scenic park surrounding the library with benches overlooking the Hudson.
Wagner Plaza
A small passive area welcoming travelers from the north into the business district.
VFW Park
Centrally located in the business district, benches provide a restful spot for shoppers,
and the stepped structure makes a perfect stage for planned activities and a grandstand
for parades.
Other organizations using the athletic facilities include Little League, AYSO Soccer,
and the Catholic Youth Organization.
